Wireless Music Transmission
It used to be that anyone wishing to hear modern music in the car on a portable CD player had to connect the player to the in-car stereo system with a cassette adapter or jack cable. At home the only options available for hearing music from a central source in several rooms were either to turn the volume all the way up or to drill holes through walls and to push cables through, to connect separate loudspeakers.
But times have changed, and today, mobile phones and MP3 players have taken over the role of the CD player. At home, more and more people would like to distribute their music without installing additional cables. But even with these modern devices, the problem that remains is how to connect them to the lounge stereo system or the car music system.
The perfect solution can be provided by Bluetooth, a wireless radio signal technology that can be found in a growing number of mobile phones, laptops and other electrical equipment. And with the recent implementation of the new Bluetooth A2DP profile, the possibilities that are opening up are so enormous that their true potential can hardly be estimated from today's perspective.
The Bluetooth A2DP profile provides for the wireless transmission of stereo audio data between two devices. This audio data can be transmitted simply, in hi-fi quality, and irrespective of the manufacturer of the equipment. The A2DP profile incorporates two roles, that of the transmitter (known in A2DP as SRC, or Source) and the receiver (known in A2DP as SNK, or Sink). This means, for example, that a Bluetooth-enabled PC or MP3 player in a mobile phone can take on the role of the transmitter and a Bluetooth receiver in the stereo system at home or in the car can perform the role of the receiver, to enable the user to enjoy the wireless transmission of music in hi-fi quality. In addition, the AVRCP profile can also be applied, should the user wish to control the receiver functions (Play, Stop, Pause, Fast Forward and Rewind) by remote control.
LinTech's blueLino product range consists of various Bluetooth transmitters and receivers, all of which have been precisely configured for use in different applications, and which support both the A2DP and the AVRCP profiles.
